the mellow road to the inner north

branding and merchandising for a music festival

For this project I had to create a branding solution for a made-up music festival; which I named ‘The Mellow Road to the Inner North’ (based on the title ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North’; the inner north being an area of Melbourne). There had to be a distinct colour palette and unique primary and secondary graphics - I was inspired by the neo-psychdelic themes of some Australian, British and French music festivals of the last 20 years. I also applied the branding to some collateral, for example on a t-shirt. I used an image of a famous Melbourne Tram and used Photoshop and Illustrator to manipulate the colours and shapes of it - before I interpreted the hard lines and angles, into looser, more flowing lines - a style which I feel goes well with the whole theme of the poster and branding.
